Oh, the message? Turns out that King Lathas tricked you - HE'S the evil one, and King Tyras was actually on YOUR side - and now you've killed 'im! The elves running the city have agreed to help Lathas take over Camelot if he helps them. Also, the evil elves (the ones running the city) are trying to "resurrect the dark lord". It's anyone's guess who the "Dark Lord" is.
When you get to the "within the light" quest, remember to save the gnome. If you don't save him during the quest, he's toast, and you can't save him afterward.

No, the waterfall quest does not seem to be related in any way.
