Question: Can blood that has been left for a while become a biohazard?

Answer #1:

Clean it all up. The dust mites, maybe ants, certainly some fungi and bacteria will find it if you don't. Spray the place with Lysol afterwards.

Police and medical emergency personnel wear gloves because all blood is considered a biohazard nowadays. No one knows, the person who is bleeding may have HIV, TB, syphilis or whatever -- Hepatitis A, B, C, ....

If that blood gets into you, then you have it too. Every year some surgeon accidentally nicks hand while working on the wrong person. Too bad, results covered by health insurance at least, but no replacement for long life.
